Sailor + Navigating the RealReal

The Real Real Review
Sweater | Rag & Bone (currently on clearance)
Skirt | Theory
Bag | Clare V
I've bought quite a few pieces on The RealReal over the years, since I first started shopping there in 2015. A common question I get asked is how I shop on the site. While there are great deals to be had, the user experience design of the website is bad. Like really bad. It is sort of hard to navigate and can be overwhelming. However, I've scored enough pieces that I think it is a worthwhile place to shop, and so I wanted to share some tips. Also, if you have any of your own, or if you have ever consigned with them (I have not, I've only purchased) I'd love to hear about it.

Don't Sweat It

Top | Oiselle Lux Hoodie
Pants | Mystery brand (tag has long been removed)
Kicks | Asics
Backpack  Clare V

On the weekends, I often try to dress in a way I perceive as slouchy and cool, but not sloppy. It is a tough needle to thread, and I don't think I always get it right. Also, for some reason, it feels harder to do as a short woman, because the fit needs to be slouchy but not just a size too large.
This day, though, I felt cool. Oiselle is an athletic clothing company from Seattle, with an awesome female founder (The Woman Who Took On Nike With Running Shorts), and this hoodie is amazing. It is soft, the perfect thickness (not too warm and yet not lacking in warmth) and I really like the color. I paired it with my favorite pair of track pants, pulled up a podcast, and I was out the door.

Do you have a go-to "off-duty" cool look?

Style Dtour - Hawaii

Tee | Lanston (made in USA)
Shorts | Iron Man
Shoes | Nike Roshe Flyknit (also on sale here)
Bag | Clare V Agnes Backpack
I had the distinct pleasure of taking a little vacation to Kauai recently, and wanted to do a quick recap of what I wore. This is part one. My outfits were nothing too spectacular as I spent most of the time in a bathing suit, which I am not putting on this blog, haha, or dressed for comfort and ready to explore. However, it is really what I wore, so here we go.
First off, I highly recommend the Nike Roshe Flyknit. The knit nature of the shoe does make my feet look like little red boats, but they are incredibly comfortable, and I love them. I found them to run an entire size large, which is what the reviews online said (they are a half size smaller than your usual Nike size, which equals a full size smaller for me), but I didn't believe them and initially the pair I ordered were too large. I'm sorry for doubting you Nike-review-leaving community. I sort of want another pair.
Tee | Ivy Park
Bralette | Aerie Lace T-Back Bralette
Shorts | Iron Man
I basically lived in this black pair of exercise shorts all week. They are so easy to wear, they go with everything, and something short is almost necessary when it is over 85 degrees and humid outside. The most amusing part of these photos, to me, is that you can see where I was in the span of the vacation based on how tan I am. These first photos are clearly from the beginning of the trip.

I am almost positive, as I have mentioned before, that I am too old to be shopping at American Eagle, but damned if they don't make some great bralettes. This one has a fun geometric pattern and if I wasn't wearing a bathing suit, I was basically wearing this. It is still in stock on Aerie's website, along with a bunch of other cute bralettes. I am also pleased to report that this Ivy Park tee (only available in white now) has held up well. You never know what the quality of collaboration/celeb-designs is going to be, but I've worn and washed this top a bunch and it is still soft and hasn't pilled on me.
And then at the end of the trip, I ended up on Mars.
What do you end up wearing on vacation? Does it end up being only a small fraction of what you packed? (Not like that happened here...just asking for a friend.)

Snip

This top used to be a sweater dress. I've had it for over 2 years and only worn it once. However, every time I go to donate it, I can't do it. I really love the lace detail across the top, but I just can't keep it around when I never wear it. Today, I grabbed a pair of scissors, laid the sweater on the ground and cut off the bottom, turning it into a sweater/top.
I can't believe I didn't think of this a long time ago.
Top | Rebecca Taylor
Pants | Joe's Jeans
Backpack | Clare V
It has an unfinished hem on the sleeves, so the same on the bottom doesn't seem out of place.

Also, I've been wearing this backpack nonstop recently. Who knew a white, leather backpack could be so versatile? I guess, Clare V, the designer, did. My only suggestion, if you are out there, Clare, is I wish the front and back segments were buttoned together, so you could pull the top one off and use it as a small clutch. If that was the case, this backpack would be unstoppable.
