I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I love a good sample sale. This is especially true when it is in San Francisco, since they are few and far between. I thought I'd write a review since this Amour Vert sample sale is going on this weekend (August 17-20) AND next weekend (August 24-27), in case anyone else in the Bay Area is interested in checking it out.
Taking a step back, Amour Vert is a company that is dedicated to more sustainable fashion, with a focus on manufacturing in America, using low-impact dyes and partnering with the non-profit American Forests to plant a tree for every tee that is sold (you can read more about the company here). The sample sale is being hosted at their pop-up location at 2358 Fillmore Street, and not at their Hayes Valley store (you can also google it for more details).
I thought that it was a great sale and would recommend it if you are looking to stock up on basics, or, obviously, a fan of the brand. The selection was varied (tops, pants, skirts, dresses, etc.) although most of the items were size S, which I am guessing is the size that they produce their samples in. There were three little changing-room tents, and they had the genius idea to put a timer on each one, so you only get 15 minutes in the dressing room at a time, in order to keep the line humming. It wasn't that crowded, but did start to fill up just as I was leaving. There was also a huge mirror, should you want to just quickly try on a top without waiting in line for a dressing room.
A closer look at the pricing (as it was today) is below, and I thought that especially for their knit tops, which are both substantially made (aka not see-through) and incredibly soft, $20 was a great price. They retail, depending on the style, for closer to $50 - $80. I scored a few tops and a skirt, and can't wait to feature them in a future post.
Do you like shopping at sample sales or is that your worst-shopping nightmare? Let me know if you end up checking this one out.
