Today's post isn't really about fashion. It is about the fact that I went to Lands End, the place, since there is a clothing company also called Lands' End, and before you ask, I double checked and the place has no apostrophe in the name, per the National Park Service website. It was a perfect, fog-free day and I was pleasantly reminded how much natural beauty there is in San Francisco; it was also a perfect opportunity to play photographer.
One of the reasons I am drawn to blogging is that it allows me to focus on something I like talking about (clothing) while learning new skills (SEO, photo editing, etc.) and giving me a reason to pick up old hobbies. When I have some free time, I really enjoy practicing photography, although I am never sure (a) what I am going to do with all the photos I take, even if they are only taking up digital, rather than physical, space, (b) if I am any good, and (c) if the answer to (b) is no, how much I actually care. For the most part, I only photograph areas where it is so beautiful that any photo basically looks good. I did take a photography class in college that I loved, where we learned, in addition to everything else, how to develop film, and really wish I'd kept my old textbook and notes.
I dressed comfortably to trek around and to guard against the wind, which included adding an extra sweater I found discarded in the trunk of my car, and tying it around my waist (like a cool kid). When I came upon this deserted lookout, I couldn't help snapping a dramatic photo of myself, as well. Turns out I matched the landscape pretty well - beige on the bottom, blue on top.
California has so many beautiful places that are "no fail" zones for photographers. I was always very partial to Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel for that. (I'm not in California very often anymore, so I haven't explored that much beyond that.)
ReplyDeleteAlas, I sometimes feel like a really boring person since I don't have too much in the way of hobbies that sound interesting when talked about. (Blogging is one for me, but I don't feel like it's something that people in my offline life really "get". My taste in books and workouts are also not things that make for lively conversation with most of the people around me.)
I don't think I've ever been to Point Lobos, but everything in Carmel is beautiful, so I'll have to check it out. Also, agreed. I rarely discuss blogging with people as a way of making conversation about what I spend my time on, haha.
